May 9, 2016

Liberal MPP Yasir Naqvi presented two Famous 5 Ottawa members with awards for showing exceptional leadership in improving the lives of others in their community.

Student-at-Law Tiffany Glover and communications consultant and entrepreneur Anne Dawson were among 19 Ottawa-area women and girls honoured with the prestigious Ontario’s Leading Women, Leading Girls, Building Communities Award at the Bronson Centre April 30, 2016.

“I am honoured and humbled to be recognized alongside so many capable women who have shown such strong leadership in our community,” said Glover, who helps with volunteer outreach in the Ottawa community on behalf of Famous 5 Ottawa.

“It is a privilege to be a member of the Famous 5 Ottawa and work with so many talented women who give so much of their time for the betterment of their communities,” said Dawson, who does volunteer communications on behalf of Famous 5 Ottawa.

In addition to Glover and Dawson, Famous 5 Ottawa nominated former Ottawa City Councillors Diane Holmes and Christine Leadman, who were also among those honoured.

Ontario has recognized more than 745 exceptional women and girls throughout the province who have shown leadership and improved the lives of others through their work, activism or volunteer activities since the awards were launched 11 years ago. Some 40 members of Famous 5 Ottawa have been recognized for their volunteer work during this time.
